William Kurk is a believer in the power of meditation and he has been practicing meditation for more than ten years. He took to meditation when he found that the stress from his job and his personal life was affecting his health and he was having problems in focusing and concentrating on tasks at hand. He says that he will always be thankful to his friends and family members who suggested that he should take up meditation. While starting meditation was not an easy task, he still stuck to it and worked on his ability to focus on a single point or a sound while meditating.
He says that anyone who is new to meditation, will find it difficult to sit at one place and gather their thoughts, but with practice, it can be done easily. Through the years, he has developed his ability to meditate and while earlier he was able to focus only for a few minutes, now he can meditate close to an hour. William Kurk mentions that meditation has not only helped him in increasing his focus and concentration abilities but it has also helped him in dealing with his health problems such as high blood pressure and headaches.
He mentions that anyone who is facing trouble because of stress in any field of life, should look towards meditation as a way to deal with the pressures. He has also given tips and suggestions to people who have wanted to take up meditation, but didn’t know where to begin. A comfortable place without any distractions is a must for meditation. A person should wear loose clothing and sit in lotus position to begin meditation. Then, one should close his/her eyes and focus on one’s breath. He says that initially, a person will not be able to focus and thoughts will come in their mind from all over. But with time and practice, a person will be able to maintain focus and learn to enjoy meditating.
